Sadness sets in...

Download Wordart Here

Christmas break is almost over and I have to start thinking about going back to work. Even though we're almost halfway through the school year this time of year always seems to drag out. So if your kids are dragging and don't want to get out of bed in the mornings don't be too hard on them. Their teachers are feeling it too. LOL!

Hey, I have to find where I put that jury summons....

Good-bye, Melissa

Download Wordart Here

My friend Melissa and her husband have packed their bags and moved to Georgia. I keep telling myself that I'm not losing a friend but gaining a free place to stay in the Atlanta area. LOL! I just joke so that I don't cry.

Melissa and I have been friends for 10 years now and I am going to miss her terribly. Her number was the first one I dialed after Charlie passed away. We tried more than one stupid diet together. We managed to attend some of the classes we signed up for when we went to Orlando for a Kindergarten Conference. We drank more margaritas together at Iguana Mia than anyone can count. It was after one of those trips to Iguana Mia that I bought a lifetime supply of sentence strips for my classroom. LOL!-don't ask about that one! We have gotten angry at each other, cried for each other and laughed at each other. We are friends and not even having 670 miles separate us can change that.

It's a good thing that long distance calls are free on the cellphone and that we're both teachers with long summer vacations. I'm planning my trip to Georgia now.

I have a favor to ask

It's hard to believe but my Christmas vacation is almost over. There are only 100 more days of school until summer vacation. Every year I hit up my friends and family for postcards of their hometowns and/or vacation spots. We use them in class to learn about other areas and compare them to where we live. Our goal is to try and collect 100 postcards by the 100th day of school. Well, our 100th day is fast approaching and we still don't have 100 postcards.

I don't teach at an inner city school, but it is a city school and the kids in my kindergarten class don't get to travel much. These glimpses into other places have opened up a whole new world for them and they are planning the spots they would like to visit someday. So, if you would be willing to send us a postcard from your town or state or vacation spot I would greatly appreciate it. Our 100th day is on January 31st. It won't be a problem if your postcard arrives after that because we'll still be collecting postcards for the rest of the year.

Here's the address if you can help:

Ms. Brown's Class
Greynolds Park Elementary
1536 N.E. 179th Street
North Miami Beach, FL 33162

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe that it's 2009 already. Have you made your new year resolutions? I quit making them a long time ago. I was never able to keep them for more than a month anyway. LOL!

Those of you that have gotten lots of snow this winter might not like today's wordart. LOL! I just remember being a kid and thinking that it had to snow enough to get school cancelled. Anything less than that just seemed like a waste.

Late last winter, my friend Denise went to Pennsylvania to visit family. It didn't snow while she was there and there was only a little snow left on the ground. She went out in the yard all by herself to build a snowman. She was only able to get enough snow together to make a small, skinny, knee-high snowman. She said everyone laughed at her and that even people riding by in their cars were staring at her like she was crazy. Hey, when you're from south Florida, seeing even a little bit of snow is exciting. LOL!

Today's wordart also goes with a great new set called Frostee that Deanna is releasing at Flowerscraps today.

New Years Eve

I thought you might like wordart I've used on the quickpages.

So do you have big plans for tonight? I'm lucky enough to have the best view of several different fireworks displays without ever leaving home. Miami is on the other side of the bay so all I have to do is go sit by the pool. There's the water in the bay, the lights from the city and the beautiful fireworks from several different displays. It's a front row seat without the crowd. LOL!

Did you pick up the Bathtime Babies Kit? I still want to see your layouts. April should come along soon and show us her layouts with JoJo and Shaylee. (Hint, Hint, April!) Here's another layout I did with the kit. You'll be able to get this as a quickpage in a couple of days. It's got plenty of room for you to journal.

Here's the blue quickpage. Make sure you visit April and thank her for the wonderful graphics. You can also put a little pressure on her to get those layouts done and show them to us. LOL!

The best part of this kit is that your bathtime baby doesn't really have to be a baby. Just look at my layout...
