Do you have a kindergarten or preschool aged child? On Thursday, October 8, Jumpstart is having a read for the record day. Participation is easy! All you have to do is find, buy or borrow a copy of Eric Carle's book The Very Hungry Caterpiller and pledge to read it to your child, your friend's kids, your nieces, your nephews, etc. Then go back to the jumpstart website and let them know how many children you read to so that you can be counted in the total. Doesn't that sound like fun? Register today and read tomorrow!

After yesterday's sad news, we got some great news today! We're finally getting our pay raises that the school board denied us last year. YIPPEE!!!! It won't go into effect until December, but that's OK cause we're finally getting it!!!! Just in time for Christmas too! I am so happy!

Today we received two postcards from Washington State. Olympia and Mount Rainier. What a beautiful area! As a kid my family lived in Seattle, but I had forgotten how pretty it is out there.

Sadly, today brought more bad news for my school. Three more teachers got cut. We're not losing students, just teachers. That means some grade levels have way more kids in their rooms then they should have. We lost one Spanish teacher and two class room teachers. I'm not sure if this latest change will effect my class room or the number of students I've got, but it's so sad. Sad for the teachers and for the students that have bonded with them for the last 29 school days.

Tomorrow is our 30th day of school and that means it's Zero the Hero day. I'm ready this time. I've got Apple Jacks for the snack and the coloring sheets are printed and ready to be colored.

We had another beautiful day! We went out for a quick boat ride today then grabbed dinner at a restaurant a couple of blocks away. Hopefully, the walk home burned off some of the calories cause I had cheesecake for dessert. LOL! It's too bad the weekend has to end.

Next weekend Orange Croc Guy has friends coming to visit and we're going to spend the whole weekend playing tour guides. LOL! You should have heard us all planning it. Having visitors means we get to do all the fun tourist things that aren't supposed to be "cool" for the people who live here. These poor people may never visit again. LOL!

I used today's wordart and April's Creepy Crawlie Kit to make a candy wrapper. I'm using it as an invitation for a Halloween get together I'm having and I thought you might like to use it for something too. Your download link in under the picture.

Today has been beautiful! The temperature was in the low 80s and there were clear skies. I went for a walk along the boardwalk with my neighbor this morning then ran errands. The guys went fishing then camr home and grilled the fish for our dinner. YUMMY!

At calendar time this morning I had a couple of students that couldn't tell me what day of the week it was. I told them that they should be able to tell what day it is by how happy I am. LOL!
