This morning at school I ran into a student that had been in my room a few years back.  This kid is still in elementary school bust as soon as he saw me he said, "Wow, are you still teaching?"  I asked just how old he thought I was.  Luckily, the kid was smart enough not to answer that question!

After my students came to class and were getting settled in for the day one of them brought me the ear covering from a set of headphones at the computers.  Another student called out that it was a donut and everyone got excited.  Even after I showed them the headphones and got the covering back where it was supposed to be I had kids looking for donuts.

I think some of them still believe I have a secret donut stash hidden under the table.

I wish I had a secret donut stash hidden under the table!

I have the perfect story to go with this kit!

This morning one of my students came into the room crying because he had forgotten his book bag at home. I told him it was Ok and to just think of all the times I've told them about something I had left at home.

Right after I said that another voice from across the room called out.....four!

LOL! Yep, I was busted!

Actually, I was kind of impressed because I would have bet money that it had happened more than four times.

So, after school today the kindergarten teachers had to meet with our principal and the reading coach to go over the results of that stupid FAIR test we're forced to give three times a year.

Even though the first test tells you what the kids know when they enter kindergarten and we have no control over that;  it was still one of those, "You're doing a good job, but...." kind of meetings.

Needless to say, I left school in a really bad mood!

My one and only goal at this moment in time is to survive the week so that I can watch the season premiere of The Walking Dead on Sunday.

You guys are sweet and funny!  Thanks for the emails asking about my friend and the news from the doctor.

Truthfully, I don't know what to tell you.

I haven't heard from my friend since the missed conference call.  Yes, they actually called my house!  If I hadn't stayed at work late I would have been home when they called.

So, the lesson here is -----Never, ever work late.  Nothing good comes of it!

I know that my friend has been busy and I'm sure that I'll hear from him soon.

As for the news from the doctor, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it also wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. 

Apparently, they were not happy with what they cut out and want to torture me some more and at some point I'm supposed to go see a gynecological oncologist.  (GROSS!  I can't believe I just typed those words!)

When the doctor's office called me back I really wasn't in the best place or even the best frame of mind to listen to what they were saying.  So, after learning that it would be 4 - 6 weeks before they did anything else I asked if I could call them back.

The part that really made me sad was knowing that 6 weeks from the day I got that call will be my birthday and you guys know how important my birthday is to me.

My birthday was messed up last year because of the whole Michael Jordan versus Batman basketball game and I still haven't forgiven Orange Croc Guy for that.  I can't have a messed up birthday two years in a row!

Anyway, I've had a couple of days to feel sorry for myself now and I'm in a better frame of mind.  So, I promise I'll be returning the phone call on Monday...or Tuesday....or maybe Wednesday....

Seriously, I'll make the call.  I promise!  But, other than throwing me a party and buying me large expensive gifts; I will not let those people do anything to me on or near my birthday!
