I want to thank all of you who sent cards to my young teacher friend, Ms. Lukow. She came back from fall break late and couldn't find the cards you sent. I even helped her go through things in her room looking for them. I told her that I know there was a nice stack of cards somewhere waiting for her because I saw them in her mailbox. I really wanted to beat myself up for not taking the cards and holding onto them myself!
Anyway, she hadn't been back at school long when my principal decided to call her into the office and question her about why she had been out and to tell her that she had eaten through a lot of the sub money and and when the sub money is gone no one will get an end of the year bonus. She also blamed Ms. Lukow and her absences for causing low morale.
Up until that moment, I had liked my principal!
Ms. Lukow had been sick and had doctor's notes for her extended fall break. Trust me, she would rather have been at work than dealing with what she was dealing with! Also, trust me when I tell you that there is no one at my school that will put a bonus of the unused sub money over the health of our co-workers!
Ms. Lukow also had nothing to do with low morale! We all love her!
After having that horrible experience in the principal's office, Ms. Lukow decided to take a leave of absence for the rest of the year and worked her last day on November 10th. She says she'll be back next year, but honestly, I'm having a hard time understanding why she would want to come back.
On her last day at school, the teacher in the room next to hers suddenly remembered that he was holding the cards you guys have sent to her. She wanted me to let you know that they are all so sweet and mean the world to her.
It means the world to me too!
