There are 30 school day left until summer vacation and I am really trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it's kind of hard right now. LOL! The days are warm and beautiful and I don't want to be inside any more than the kids do. My high school volunteers all have senior~itis. And we haven't even started our Mother's Day projects.

What's a girl to do? LOL!

One of the kids in my class became a big brother last Thursday and he is not happy about this at all. LOL! Anthony has a twin brother so it's not that he was an only child that suddenly has to share mommy with someone else. I know that he's going to make a great big brother, but right now he just needs his space. LOL!

Orange Croc Guy made me go geocaching with him this weekend. It was the first time either one of us had ever done this and it was pretty fun. Orange Croc Guy is now totally addicted! I'm afraid that this is the only thing he's going to want to do now. LOL!

Today was a good day! I got through the whole day without any ice cream disasters or falling in the hallway. LOL!

Every 5 years or so teachers in Florida have to be refingerprinted and this is my year. So, I left school a little early and headed for downtown Miami. The fingerprinting took very little time and then I took the Venetian Causeway home and didn't even have to wait for the drawbridge!

So after the ice cream disaster yesterday my morning was off to a good start. Then the afternoon hit! LOL!

I was in my room during lunch playing on the computer and listening to music while I ate my lunch. When it was time for me to pick my class up I opened the door, tripped over something and fell down. As I was sitting there in the floor trying to figure out what had just happened the nurse walked by, looked at me and said, "Did you fall?" LOL! I said yes and she said "No, really, did you fall?" LOL! She just couldn't figure out why I was sitting in the middle of the hall.

Earlier in the day I had asked for a pack of sentence strips. They were brought to my room, but when the lady delivering them thought I wasn't there she just propped them against the door. I opened the door to walk out, the package fell down and I tripped over it. The lady from the office felt really bad. She said that she had knocked, but when I didn't answer she thought I was out of the room. Between the music I was playing and the sinus congestion I've had I just didn't hear her knock.

After I got my class back in the room I blew my nose for what felt like the thousandth time today and my ear popped. Suddenly I could hear so much better! Actually everything seemed really loud at first! When I got a chance I let the lady from the office know that my ear had popped and I was hearing better so I would know the next time she knocked on my door. LOL!

After school today, I stopped at the store to pick up a few things---ice cream. LOL! I got home and took care of some things that needed to be done---laundry. When I was ready for my ice cream treat I opened the carton of Heath Bar Crunch and thought it looked kind of funny. I figured that I must have picked up Chocolate Heath Bar Crunch and went ahead and put two scoops in my little ice cream bowl because, hey, I like chocolate. I sat down to watch this weeks episode of Lost that I TIVOed and eat my ice cream. Well, I put the first spoon full in my mouth and decided quickly not to eat any more. I didn't pick up chocolate---I picked up coffee Heath Bar Crunch. I don't like coffee or coffee flavored anything. YUCK!

That's pretty much how my week is going, but at least the weekend will be here soon. I'm going to get some sleep now. Enjoy your day!

I'm down to the last couple of days on the antibiotics and I am feeling better, but I'm just not back to 100% yet. This very long week hasn't helped much. Why do they insist on making us work five days a week? LOL!

On Monday it took me over two hours to get home from school. There was an overturned truck on the causeway that caused them to completely shut it down. We were all forced to exit in Miami and work our way over to the beach some other way. NIGHTMARE!

On Thursday afternoon part of the causeway was closed off again because the President was in town. He was at Gloria Estefan's house and so the exit to Star Island was blocked off for security reasons. That slowed my drive down, but at least I was able to get home.

Monday morning it was raining like you wouldn't believe. That mini umbrella that I always carry in my purse wasn't in my purse. LOL! I can't even begin to explain how soaked I was by the time I got into my classroom. There was no outdoor playground time that day because of the weather.

On Thursday as we were getting ready to go outside the office assistant came over the intercom and asked everyone to stay in the building because there was a pitt bull on campus and they were waiting for animal control. Pitt bulls are illegal in Dade County so it's never good when one shows up. After she made the announcement one of my students got very upset because he had misunderstood the announcement. When she said there was a "pitt bull" on campus he thought she said "spitball". He just couldn't understand why "that thing you blow through a straw" would force us to stay indoors. Once I stopped laughing I explained what she said and what a pitt bull was.

Today, we were outside and some of the kids came running over to tell me that a bird was trying to get them. I go to see what they're talking about and found that there were birds building a nest inside one of the outdoor lights. As the kids were playing and got too close to the light the bird flew down to scare them away. I assured the kids that if they didn't get too close the bird would leave them alone. Some of the kids spent their whole playtime watching the birds and trying to talk to them by calling out "coo-coo, coo-coo" LOL!

Now, I'm going to get some much needed sleep. In the morning I'm supposed to go to the zoo with my friend and her kids. Is it bad that I'm hoping for more rain? LOL!
