Stars 'n Stripes by FlowerScraps

You guys have already heard all about how much I love watching fireworks so I won't bore you with that story again. However, I will tell you that with all of the construction work we've got going on around here the prime viewing spots are rare this summer. I'll be out early tomorrow to stake my claim. lol!
I will be so happy when they finish redoing our boardwalk!
FlowerScraps has released a cute Fourth of July kit called Stars 'n Stripes. I love this kit! Take a look at the preview...
There are cardstock and glitter papers, 13 papers, 36 elements and an alpha.
Take a look at one of my layouts...
Hopefully I'll get some great pictures of the fireworks tomorrow and can use this kit to show them off.

Happy July!

Seriously, why is it already July? Summer months go by way too quickly!
I spent Saturday at Wings Over Miami photographing old airplanes and we went out for a late lunch at Sergio's. I came home and hopped in to a very fast and very cold shower before meeting my friends for drinks.
It was a very hot afternoon to be out taking photos, but the planes were cool and there was a nice guy there with lots of stories to tell about his experiences and the the plane he owns. I'll show you some of the photos later. Right now I'm just too tired to pick up the camera. lol!
Lunch was good, but we had one little scare. There were six of us there and five different checks. The waitress was great and everything went smoothly until it was time to pay. Everyone was paying with either a credit or debit card so the waitress took them with a promise to be right back. Well, a minute or two later I noticed another waitress walking slowly by our table and checking the floor like she was looking for something. Then our waitress came over and asked if she had picked up our cards. We assured her that she had!
Our waitress leaves and several others walk by trying to very casually check the floor and chairs around our table. I think they were trying to figure out if our waitress lost our cards or if we were hiding them and pretending to have already paid.
Right when we were about to start freaking out the manager came over and let us know that everything was ok and our cards had been found. He said that there were just too many people at the waiters stand.
We all got our cards back so I guess the story has a happy ending, but I'm still going to check my card for strange charges the next couple of days. lol!
The other good news of the day is that the boil water advisory has been lifted. YEA! That really is a pain!
I'm off to get some much needed sleep now.

Oh my!

I ventured out into the real world twice today ~ once by car and once on foot ~ and it so wasn't worth it!
The driving patterns around here are crazy because of construction and repairs that are going on right in front of where I live. That means one entrance into the parking garage and the main walking gate are off limits. UGH! So, everyone ~ pedestrians and drivers (garage users and valet parkers) are using the back entrance. One of the entrances at the back gate is also off limits. Basically, it's all just a big mess!
Some genius has decided that it would be a good idea to add a second security stop after the gate. So, after entering the garage there is a security guard or two or three waiting to stop you. Apparently, they're there to make sure people looking for the valet don't take up spaces in the garage or some such craziness. It looked to me like they were sitting in chairs and talking to their friends and blocking the way so that no one could enter the garage until their conversation was finished. Trust me, I sat and waited while they finished a conversation and I didn't enjoy the wait!
Walking isn't much better, because there is no place to walk except in the road with the cars. Then, when you go through the garage the security guards tell you to be careful and pick that moment to end their conversation and let the cars go. No pedestrian right of way around here.
I think I'll spend all of Friday inside boiling water since we're still under that boil water advisory. lol!
