Finally Friday

It's almost vacation time! YIPEE!! Since I'll be going out of town on Saturday, I've prepublished several give aways that will start on Saturday. Some days it will be the normal daily wordart and other days there will also be goodies made using graphics from Deanna and April. Make sure you visit the girls and let them know how much you like their graphics!

I finally got a Wii. It's one of my Christmas presents. I spent way more time then I should have getting it set up tonight. LOL! Orange Croc guy usually helps with things like this but he's out of town until Saturday and I'm leaving on Saturday so I just couldn't wait. Anyway, it's all set up and I'm just as bad at playing tennis using Wii as I am at playing it for real. LOL! Tomorrow I am going to get the Wii fit set up. Yes, I'm going to set it up and then go out of town. LOL!

I had a fun two days of Christmas parties at school. Yesterday was for the entire school and today's party was just for our building. FUN!

Now, we're already thinking about spring break. Last year we went to Paris. It looks like this year may be a trip to London. I am so lucky to work with the people I do. Not everyone wants to travel with their coworkers.

Surprises

This is the time of year when the mail is full of surprises---Christmas cards, presents, letters from friends that you haven't seen in years. Mostly, the surprises are good and leave you with a smile on your face. But, every now and then, there's a not so nice surprise waiting for you in the mailbox. Today, I received one of those not so nice surprises---a jury summons. LOL!

It's for January 7th---the first day back at school after Christmas vacation. I've got a pretty high juror number so maybe I'll get lucky and not have to report. I haven't been summoned in a couple of years so I guess I can't complain---too much.

For June

Man oh man, are the kids excited this week! I hope I can survive the rest of the week. LOL!

I got my first Secret Santa present today. It was a cute little candy cane holder. Of course, I have no idea who pulled my name out of the hat. It's not because I haven't been trying to figure it out, though. LOL!

Busy Week

I'm sorry I didn't get anything posted for Sunday. After spending Saturday waiting around for the FedEx guy I had tons of things to do.

The FedEx guy showed up around 6:00 PM Saturday and I really wanted to be angry with him for not leaving my package on Friday, but my heart wasn't in it. I could tell he was majorly stressed out! I told him that I had heard he had a bad day on Friday and got his version of what happened with the packages. I know the truth is somewhere in the middle. but the important thing is that I did get my package. So, all is well in my world.

We're heading into the last week of school before Christmas vacation and I am so excited! This week is going to be spent doing projects and making presents. I'm so excited!

Beautiful Day

I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful this day was! I went to a party today for a friends daughter. She had her Sweet 16. It wasn't as big or outrageous as the parties you see on MTV, but it was pretty close. She was happy and he was proud and a good time was had by all. She was given a day that she will never forget and I guess that's all that matters.

Still Cold

I'm telling you, we've already had more cold days this year then we had all last winter and it's just the beginning of December. We broke out the hot chocolate at school again today. I'm just making a quick post now so that I can give you Thursday's wordart andgo to bed. It's an early night for me, but I am tired!

I should be sleeping!

It's always so hard to get back on schedule after having time off from work. By the time I get back on schedule the weekend will be here and I'll be staying up late again. LOL!

The rain finally came and boy did it rain hard! Now, Let's hope it helped to clean my car a little. It's supposed to rain more today. I really hope we'll be able to take the kids outside. Mondays are bad enough as it is, not being able to let them outside for awhile makes it a very long day!

Today was the last day of hurricane season. I'm glad we didn't have a storm here, but I could have used more than two days off from school because of the weather. We don't get snow here. LOL!

Talk about snow! Toby sent me this photo of her standing on her back porch in Canada. Anyone want to volunteer to go help her shovel snow? LOL! I wonder how many days of school we would get off if it snowed like that in Miami!

The end of November

Man, this long weekend sure went by fast. It's ending now that means that November is ending too. (sigh) Now, my birthday month is ending and I have to go back to work tomorrow. (double sigh). That's OK though, cause now I get to start MY CHRISTMAS MONTH! LOL!

I've already pulled out my favorite book How Murray Saved Christmas by Mike Reiss to take to school tomorrow. Do you know this book? Santa gets hurt and Murray, the Jewish diner owner, has to deliver the Christmas presents. LOL!

We also have to start planning for our annual trip on The Polar Express. That means we put the chairs in aisles like a train and read the book to the kids while they drink hot chocolate and eat cookies. LOL!

A couple of years ago I had a student that insisted to his mother that we REALLY were going on the REAL Polar Express. He told her all about how I had gone online and bought the tickets. LOL! (I designed and printed them ) This year I have his little brother. Somehow, I don't think he will be as easily fooled.

I finally got the new tags put on my car this morning. The old ones expired on the 15th. LOL! I had been riding around with the new one on the seat beside me in case I got pulled over. LOL! Trust me, with the way I drive, it's a miracle I didn't get pulled over! Anyway, I went out this morning determined to get the new tags on. I took two different screwdrivers and a butter knife with me cause I couldn't remember what I used the last time I had to change the tags. LOL! (It's so much easier when they just give you the little stickers!) It turns out the the screwdriver I threw into my purse at the last minute "just in case" was the one I needed.

It's supposed to rain so I pulled the car up to the top of the parking garage so that it would be outside and the rain could help wash some of the dirt off of it. LOL! Yeah, lets see how much luck I have remembering that when I go out in the morning and can't find my car! So far no rain, just lots of clouds and wind. The sky is getting darker though I sure hope it's not raining when I have to go to work in the morning!

Now, I need to go concentrate on the football game. Miami is currently beating St. Louis 13 -9!

Football

Well, I just watched Miami lose to NC State. BOO! Sorry, NC people, but even when I lived there I didn't pull for NC State.

Have you been hitting the sells this weekend? I haven't. haha! Miami is crowded enough on a normal day, I have no desire to fight even bigger crowds at the mall. I usually do most of my shopping online anyway. It may not be as exciting as the Black Friday sells, but it's much easier!

When Miami hosted the Superbowl in 2007, the traffic was horrible. Everyone came for the game and wanted to stay on the beach. They all arrived by the Friday before the game and the traffic was horrible! It took me forever just to get home from work that day and I made sure I walked anywhere else I needed to go! I was happy that it rained on everyone during the game. LOL!

I said then that when the Superbowl came back to Miami I would be taking a vacation somewhere else that week. LOL! Looks like I've got until 2010 to plan that trip. LOL!

The morning after

Well, after too much food, too many bottles of wine, a sunset sail around the bay and a very late night I had painters outside my window at 8:30 this morning. As soon as they break for lunch I'm going back to bed. LOL!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by the best friends a person can have. There weren't even any major food disasters. The smoke alarm only went off once. LOL!

Years ago, when I still lived in North Carolina, one of my friends decided she was going to cook dinner for four of us. Since I am totally hopeless near kitchen appliances, I watched football with the guys while she worked in the kitchen. She was so proud of herself for planning a special meal and wanted so badly for everything to be perfect. She searched for the perfect recipes and set a beautiful table. Most of the recipes she found served 8 people and there were only four of us. So, she very cleverly cut all the ingredients in half and then proceeded to cook the meal at half the temperature for half the time. I'm not kidding! It was way worse than any thing I've ever tried to cook. We ended up ordering pizza.

It's my actual birthday!

The day has finally arrived! I'm prepublishing this on Monday morning so hopefully as you're reading this, I am in Saint Augustine totally enjoying myself. LOL! Sadly, it also means that my mini vacation is over tomorrow and I must return to work on Monday. Oh well, Thanksgiving vacation isn't that far away. LOL!

This saying is perfect for me. As a teenager, I was my mother's worst nightmare. I don't know how she survived. LOL! Of course, sometimes that rebellious teenager still comes out. She's a lot more fun now!

Santa

This is the first of my prepublished posts. By the time this posts I should be at the airport waiting to board my plane. Yes, I'm flying. It was a two hour flight or a five hour drive---EASY decision! LOL!

Packing...

I've spent most of the night getting my suitcase packed for the week. YUCK! I love to travel, but hate the packing and and unpacking. I usually put it off until the last minute (like I've done tonight) and pack a bunch of stuff I don't need while leaving behind a bunch of stuff that I do need.

Since I'll be gone for the rest of the week, I am going to pre-publish daily entries to the blog with requests that I've completed. If I get a chance I'll post from Saint Augustine, but no promises!

Laughter

I spent several hours on the phone Saturday with an old friend that I hadn't spoken to in years. It was nice to touch base again. We relived our college days and laughted until our sides hurt. It was a great call and I feel just as close to her now as I did back then.

It's true what they say...there is no friend like an old friend!

Birthday surprise

Well, I'm moving very slow this morning. I will be out of town next weekend when my actual birthday arrives so my friends gave me a surprise party last night. I have the best friends in the whole world!

It really was a surprise too! As a matter of fact, it was such a surprise, I almost didn't go. I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep. I got talked into just showing up long enough to say hi to everyone. Well, I stayed a lot longer than that. LOL!

Want to know something funny? I think they are planning some kind of surprise for me at work on Monday. That's the only day next week that I'm actually showing up to work. LOL! The kids in my class are in on it and they spilled the beans. They told me everything and then told me not to guess. LOL!

Worries

I have a friend that worries about everything. She worries and stresses the rest of us out. LOL!We can plan the simpliest project and she'll ask several times a day how it's done and request a sample everytime she asks. She was tracing turkey feathers for school the week before Halloween arrived.

She always gets her work done before the rest of us, but we all get it done. Now, which way is better---worrying the whole time or getting it done without the worries? I vote for no worries!
