The end of March already

Download Wordart Here

March was the month I dreaded the most because I knew it was going to be a long one with no days off at school. As it turns out I had lots of time off and the month just flew by. Terry, my friend and the paraprofessional in my class room said that March was the longest month she has experienced since she started working at my school. This is her third year there. LOL!

I feel bad cause I know that she picked up a lot of the slack while I was out, but it is also nice to know that I was missed. LOL! She appreciates me a lot more now! LOL!

I didn't get a good night's sleep last night, so I'm off to bed now. Enjoy your day!

It's Monday

Download Wordart Here

I put together today's wordart back when we were picketing the school board for breaking our contracts. I didn't get my promised raise so the layouts made. LOL!

Today I did something that I haven't done in a loooooong time! I ironed. YUCK! Don't ask me why I thought I needed to iron my clothes before folding them up to put in a suitcase cause I don't have an answer for you. LOL!

Hey, I also cooked today. Well, I kind of cooked...it was frozen chicken that I heated up in the oven. But, I steamed the broccoli all by myself. LOL! If you had any idea just how bad I am at cooking you would know what a big deal that is!

I was going to go out for a walk, but it started raining so I took a nap instead. They said on one of the news breaks that we have a cold front coming. I hope it just brings rain and not cold weather. I can't take any more cold weather! The kids at school all still have colds and I am ready to start wearing a face mask. LOL!

April has put a cute little kit in her store called Sleepytime Lambs. Here's a preview of the kit...

And here's a layout I made...

If you go check out April's Blog, you'll find a QP that she gave away as a freebie using this kit. She's also giving away a QP that was made with her Fishing With Dad Kit. Make sure you read the post about her husbands fishing trip!

OK, it's time for me to get some sleep. Enjoy your day!

Did you celebrate Earth Hour?

Download Wordart Here

So, did you go dark for one hour? My friends and I turned everything off and sat out by the water. There are solar lights there so we weren't completely in the dark. We watched across the bay as the lights went out in Miami. Of course, there were still some lights on but many got turned off. It was actually a fun way to spend the evening! Maybe we should do this more than once a year!

I didn't accomplish a whole lot today. LOL! I got some laundry done, ran a couple of errands and napped. Oh, and I dug out the passport and threw some more clothes in the suitcase. I'm really wanting Friday to hurry up and get here! Can you tell?

Time for me to get some sleep. Enjoy your day!

Happy Saturday

Download Wordart Here

YIPPEE! It's Saturday! I've got some things to pick up today for my trip. The suitcase is open and things have been thrown inside. Since the highs in London have been in the 50's lately, I've got no problem packing. Won't be needing the short sleeves and flip flops I'm wearing now. LOL!

You know this was a really long week. We had two different teachers leave school in an ambulance. One on Wednesday and one on Thursday. I'm telling you, we're all dropping like flies and it's no fun!

My friends and I were sitting around comparing war wounds the other day. I'm still not strong and have a hard time catching my breath, Betty fell at school and hurt her back while I was in the hospital and Susan has something wrong with her foot and needs to see the doctor about it. All of a sudden, Judi yelled OMG! She said that she had just had a flash of all of us sharing an old age condo and that it wasn't a pretty sight. LOL! We've been calling ourselves the Golden Girls ever since. LOL! The sad part is that none of us are old enough to live in an old age condo and we're already falling apart.

Don't forget to go dark tonight for Earth Hour!

Sorry for the quick post, but it's been a long day and an even longer week. I'm off to bed now. Enjoy your day!

It's finally Friday!

Download Wordart Here

Oh, I'm so happy that it's Friday! It's a teacher workday and payday too! LOL!

I'm getting so excited about London. I'm leaving in one week! Tonight I pulled the suitcase out of the closet so that I could start throwing stuff in it this weekend. If you could see the way I pack you would know that I mean literally---THROW stuff in it. LOL!

Thank goodness for insurance! Today I received a detailed bill for my hospital stay. Remember, it's just the hospital and not the individual doctor bills and other things that I'll get charged for. This bill was for 64 thousand dollars. OUCH! I just don't know how people without insurance do it. Luckily, I'll just have to meet the deductible.

I made a quick layout using papers from April's New Home Kit. Aren't these papers just the best?

Here's a preview of the full kit that available at ScrapitSassy

If you would like to pick up an adorable mini kit go visit Shel Belle Scraps! Here's a preview of the kit she posted on her blog Wednesday. The colors are awesome!

It's bedtime for me. Enjoy your day!

Oh man, am I tired!

Download Wordart Here

I just can't wait to feel like I'm back at 100% again. Right now, it feels like I take two steps forward and one step backward. Of course, being a kindergarten teacher doesn't really help very much. Lots of the kids are still fighting colds themselves.

I took a little more time to play today after my nap. LOL! Here's another layout I made using April's Fishing With Dad Kit. I'm having fun playing with these graphics! They're great for getting your creative spark back.

Thursday is the last day of school with kids for the week. Friday is a teacher workday. I'm excited about Friday! LOL! I'm still playing catch up at school and need the time in my classroom.

I'm still undecided if I'll be sleeping through this weekend like I did the last one. Right now, there is a forcast for lots and lots of sleep. Speaking of which, I'm off to bed now. Enjoy your day!

A request

Download Wordart Here

I feel really bad about just getting this WA request out. I received it before I went into the hospital and just never got to it. So, Lauren, I am really, really sorry and I hope that you can still use it for your project.

The last two days have been really stressful for me. There's just so much going on and I'm still not back to 100%. Tonight I even had a nose bleed. What's that all about?

The good news is that I am going to London in only 9 days!!! I am so excited! Now I just have to get packed, survived the next 9 days and get there.

I treated myself to a massage today. It was very relaxing and I needed it. LOL! Wish I could treat myself like that more often. Sometimes, it's good to pamper yourself!

I decided to let some things sit and play around with April's Fishing With Dad Kit. Here's a quick layout I made...

I just love April's kits!

I've also got one more layout using Flower Scraps portion of the Fairy Tale Blog Train to show you...

If you haven't jumped on this blog train yet, make sure you visit Deanna at Flower Scraps to pick up all the wonderful and free goodies!

It feels so good to play around with the kits again! I'm sure that's part of what is making me feel better. Now, if I could just play at work so that things wouldn't be so stressful there. LOL!

I'm going to sleep now. Enjoy your day.

You just gotta laugh!

Download Wordart Here

So, just in case there was any question---it's official---I have the worse haircut ever! LOL! The same girls that were throwing me a welcome back breakfast just four days ago were pointing and laughing today. I just love my friends. LOL!

The good news is that I only napped for about an hour when I got home today. I'm getting stronger everyday cause I have napped longer than that when I wasn't sick. LOL!

Did you remember to visit Flower Scraps today for the the beginning of the Fairy Tale Blog Train? I visited all of the blogs and picked everything up. There are some really cute things available! Lots of the designers are releasing things in parts so you'll want to visit them more than once.

Here's another layout I made using Flower Scraps portion of the blog train...

OK, I've got to go to bed now. Enjoy your day!

Another weekend is over

Download Wordart Here

It's amazing how fast the weekend goes when you pretty much sleep through it. LOL! There are four school days and one teacher workday this week so hopefully, I'll be able to make it through with no problem. I've got so much to do that I really need that workday on Friday!

Have you visited Aimee Asher lately? Tammy DeYoung has re-released an Easter set from last year that is just adorable. Of course, I'm very partial to this set. LOL! Here's the preview for you to see...

Notice my name? That's only part of the reason I like love this set. The awesome graphics are the other reason.

I didn't play around as much as I had wanted to this weekend. I did make a SOE candy wrapper for you using April's Fishing With Dad Kit. It's such a great kit! Perfect for those weekend fishing trips! Sorry I don't have a sample put together for you, for here's a preview of what the wrapper looks like. The back is blank so you can add your own information.

Make sure you visit Deanna at Flower Scraps today! She is releasing a new kit on her blog called Fairy Tale Wedding and it is part of a wonderful blog train. The colors are amazing! Here's a preview of Deanna's part for you to see...

Here's a layout I made using just a small part of Deanna's contribution.

I can't wait to get the rest of the kit from the blog train!

OK, it's way past my bedtime and I've got a long day ahead of me. Enjoy your day!

Oh goodness!

Download Wordart Here

Ok, so I learned a very valuable lesson today. NEVER, EVER, NEVER, cancel your haircut appointment at the last minute. Because I just wasn't up to going for my haircut yesterday I ended up getting a cut from someone that has never cut my hair before. I am now the proud owner of a new and very bad haircut. LOL! Hopefully, it will look semi-normal before I leave for London in 13 days. If not, they may not allow me into their country. LOL! Who knew that getting a simple trim could be so difficult. I have a whole new appreciation for the girl who normally cuts my hair!

The funny thing about spending 10 days in the hospital is that you forget just how bad the traffic is around here. I ventured out today and got a big reminder! Spring break is in full force around here so there are college kids everywhere. That means more people on the road with no idea where they're actually going. Lots of putting on brakes for no reason and driving with a turn signal on when there is no place to turn. LOL!

After the bad haircut and traffic I was more than ready for today's nap. LOL! I wonder what kind of trouble I can get into tomorrow? LOL!

Happy Spring!

So, who knew that working for two days would be so tiring? LOL! I sure didn't! I do feel myself getting stronger again and today was a much easier day than yesterday was.

I managed to only take a short nap when I got home today. Of course, the bed is calling me now.

I had an appointment for a haircut today, but I called and got it put off until tomorrow. Getting a haircut will be tomorrow's big adventure. Haircut and nap time. Sounds like a plan for a fun weekend! LOL!

Thanks again for all the kind words and well wishes. You will never know just how much they mean to me.

Enjoy your weekend. Have some fun for me!

I made it!

Download Wordart Here

Well, I made it through my first day back at work! YIPPEE! I was so overwhelmed in the morning that I kept crying. It just felt so good to be back. The girls I work with planned a surprise breakfast to welcome me back. I really do have the best friends in the whole world!

I spent most of the day sitting in my chair and that just wore me out! I came home and slept for 5 hours! I've been up for awhile now, but I am sleepy and ready to go back to bed for the night.

I do feel myself getting stronger everyday and I think that being back at work is helping. You just can't look at those little faces and not feel better! Now my goal is to get through Friday and then I'll sleep through the weekend. LOL!

Enjoy your day!

I survived another day

Download Wordart Here

Isn't it amazing that no matter how sick you feel you're always more comfortable in your own home? I'm still moving in slow motion, but I felt so much better today than yesterday. I'm convinced that 99% of that is because I was at home! Of course, sleeping through most of the day probably helped too. LOL!

I've never been big on using elevators. I would rather take the stairs if possible. It isn't a fitness thing, it's more of a claustrophobia thing. Like I've told you before---you wouldn't want to get stuck in an elevator with me. Since getting sick I've purposely looked for reasons to use the elevator. LOL!

I ventured out to the grocery store today cause after 10 days in the hospital I needed food! LOL! I parked in the garage and walked to the top of the stairs. I actually had to stand there for a minute and decide if I had the energy to walk DOWN the flight of stairs or if I wanted to go around and use the elevator. How sad is that?!?! I bit the bullet and took the stairs. Now, if I had needed to walk up them I would have used the elevator! I'm so pitiful.

After doing my shopping, which wore me out, I took the little people pusher/escalator back up to the parking garage. Once, I got home I called the valet to bring the groceries in for me and then I took a nap. That's how I spent my first exciting day out of the hospital.

Now, Thursday is going to be a whole other story. I'm heading back to school. No elevators, people pushers or nap time there. This will be a real test! I hope I survive. I hope the kids survive. LOL!

While I was sick April, Flower Scraps and Shel Belle all released some adorable kits. I just can't wait to feel better so that I can start playing with them. I can't get over the talent these girls have and I am so, so lucky to be able to work with them!

April has put two new kits in her store. The first one is called New Home Kit and is perfect for anyone doing some remodeling or moving. Here's a preview for you...

The second kit April added to her store is called Fishing With Dad and has lots of goodies for the fishermen in your life. Here's the preview...

Flower Scraps has been giving away an adorable set called Snakes and Snails on her blog. The other members of her CT have put together some of the cutest pages with this kit. You just have to go check them out and pick up the kit while you're there. Here's the preview...

Shel Belle Scraps has been giving away the most amazing kit called Mimosa. Admit it, the name alone makes you want the kit! LOL! Well, you can get it for free! Check out the layouts using the kit while you're at her blog. Here's the preview...

I just want to play with all of the kits at the same time! Hopefully, I'll feel like playing when the weekend arrives.

I've got to get some sleep if I'm going to make it through a day at work. Wish me luck and enjoy your day.

I am alive and almost well!

Download Wordart Here

I'm sorry that I disappeared for so long. I ended up in the hospital with what the doctor's called, "A Whopping Case of Pneumonia".

I woke up at about 6 in the morning on March 8 and knew that I had better get myself to the ER. I got dressed and then sat and wondered if I should wake up my neighbors, drive myself or call an ambulance. Foolishly, I decided to drive myself. LOL! Luckily, Mount Sinai isn't too far down the road and is pretty much a straight drive. LOL!

I remember getting into the ER and having what felt like 20 people on me doing things and asking questions....Did you fall down?...Did someone hit you?....Do you have a pet bird?....Why are you crying? Well, NO, NO, NO and I'm crying cause I'm sick and you people are scaring me!

They tried to do an x-ray, but just like when I have gone to Urgent Care earlier in the week the x-ray was unreadable because I couldn't get enough air into my lungs. So, that made it time for a CAT Scan. The first one I've ever had done.

They gave me the iodine shot to show the lungs better---another first for me. When it kicked in I was really worried for a minute cause I thought I had wet my pants and wasn't sure how I was going to explain that one. LOL! Well, the technician must see that reaction on lots of faces cause he asked if it felt warm. YES! Then said that it was normal. Thank goodness!

I got back into the ER and was told that I had pneumonia on the right upper and lower side. I said that I felt stupid for not going to the ER sooner and was told that 10,000 people had walked through the doors with the very same symptoms I had and it just turned out that I was the one that was actually sick. I asked if I won a prize. They said I won a hospital stay. BAD PRIZE!

Since I had such a severe case it was about two that afternoon before they got me into a room. They didn't put me in ICU, but wanted me in the next level down from ICU because I really needed to be monitored.

There were no private rooms available and I was taken into a room with a lady that was not happy about my being there. LOL! She started complaining the minute they rolled me into the room. After they got me settled in and left for abut five minutes the lady pushed the call button and told them they were going to have to come in and do something about me cause I was coughing too much for her. LOL! I was coughing too much for myself too!

They found another room and moved me there quickly!

I shared this room with someone who was in worse shape than I was. She slept all the time so my coughing didn't seem to bother her. Her family came to visit everyday and they were very nice. I got to the point where I could go to a regular room and was moved once again.

The third room got me the bed by the window. There was a partial view---part building construction and construction workers and part water in the bay. I'm pretty sure I mooned those construction workers a couple of times. LOL! Poor guys!

I took my medicine, slept, watched more TV then a person should ever watch, slept, talked on the phone, slept, listened to the Ipod, slept, took more x-rays, slept, had another CAT Scan, slept...You get the picture! Every now and then---I cried.

I spent the better part of the 10 days in the hospital on oxygen because I couldn't keep my oxygen levels high enough on my own. At one point I had the lung specialist and RN looking at my monitor and talking about how I wasn't breathing. I pointed out to them that I was breathing and that they should look at me not the monitor. I then coughed for about 5 minutes and they won the argument . LOL!

On Thursday night, they made me fast for a test they wanted to run on Friday. I double checked with the nurse to make sure I wasn't even allowed to drink water after midnight and got yelled at. He said, "Don't you know what nothing means? Nothing means nothing!" Well, yes, I do know what nothing means cause I'm not 5 and you don't need to yell me!

So, late Thursday night they hooked up an IV bag of fluids for me. I'm not sure why they thought I was going to dehydrate between midnight and 8 AM! Guess I never should have asked that question about drinking water. LOL!

I woke up at one point and pushed the call button for the nurse because the IV just didn't feel right. I asked if the IV was optional or mandatory. I was told that it was not optional! The doctor had ordered it and if I didn't want it I would have to sign a paper saying that I refused the IV. Well, I said that I didn't want to do anything to harm my health but that the IV just didn't feel right. Now, don't you think this would have been a good time for him to turn on the light and look at the IV? Apparently, it wasn't cause he didn't!

I woke up again about 5 AM feeling like my entire arm had fallen to sleep. I turned on the light and looked at the IV. My arm and hand were so big I couldn't bend my fingers and I looked like a balloon in the Thanksgiving Day parade. The IV wasn't in right. That's why it hadn't felt good earlier in the evening!

Once again, I push the button and once again the nurse comes in. I asked if my arm was supposed to look that way and was told no. He unhooked the fluids, grabbed me a warm compress, left the IV in my hand and then went about his business.

It was 10 AM before they took me downstairs for my test. I got there with an arm that still looked like a parade float, a fever and a worthless IV in my hand. One of the nice nurses changed the IV for me.

When I got back to my room, I found that they had delivered the wrong lunch. I'm not proud of myself for doing this, but it had been a rough night and a rough morning, so I got mad at the nurse. I informed her that, "That is not the lunch I ordered and I'm not going to eat it!" LOL! I know it wasn't her fault and I did apologize, but at that moment in time it seemed like such a big deal to me. LOL! At one point during my temper tantrum, I was on the phone and I heard my friend telling people that she thought I must be feeling better cause I was telling people off. LOL! I never did eat that lunch. I settled for a shower and a nap instead.

My doctors finally had enough of me and sent me home today after I broke down and cried again. I was told to get myself back to the hospital if I started to feel bad.

I'm not going back to school until Thursday, but I sure do miss my class! I hated that I missed St. Patrick's Day with them. I told my friends that I couldn't believe I was missing Shamrock Shakes ( a vanilla shake with green food coloring) and they said that they had all agreed to wait for me to come back to make them! I was so excited! So, it looks like Shamrock Shakes all around on Friday!

Thank you!

I just wanted to drop in and let you know that I am still alive and starting to feel better. I'm not back to 100% yet, but the meds do seem to be working.

I've received so many nice emails from you guys wishing me well. I'm sorry that I haven't replied to them, but I'm not staying awake for long periods of time. LOL! I have read them all and I thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. They are working!

I wanted to give you a freebie that I was working on before all this started. I used graphics from April's Lucky Leprechaun Kit to make a candy wrapper. I left the back textbox blank so that you can add a message of your own. I hope you can use it! Hopefully, I'll be up to playing again in a few days.

I'm really sick!

Download Wordart Here

OK, so today I had to bite the bullet and go to the doctor. YUCK! I just couldn't stop coughing and that's really hard to do when you can't breathe. LOL!

They tried to take chest x-rays but I couldn't take a deep enough breath for them to get a good read on the films. The x-rays are being sent over to the radiologist in hopes that he can see if they're clear or not. Crossing my fingers that they are clear!

They had me take a breathing treatment while I was there. That's something I've never had to do before. Now, in order to fully understand what this was like for me you need to know that I tend to have claustrophobic tendencies. I mean, I can ride in elevators, but you probably wouldn't want to be trapped in one with me. LOL! So here they are telling me that I need to put this mask on my face. Telling a girl with claustrophobic tendencies that is having a hard time catching her breath that she needs to put this tight mask on her face is not a fun thing! I managed to survive though and the treatment did make a difference.

When the doctor was describing what she was going to do to tide me over until we got the results of the x-rays she said that she was "going to cover me in antibiotics". In my sick mind, I was picturing a spa treatment---Instead of a seaweed wrap I would be wrapped in antibiotics. LOL! At the time, it sounded pretty good to me!

Now, I'm home with some very serious antibiotics, the rest of the week off and strict orders to take myself to the ER if I don't notice an improvement. Notice an improvement?!? When these drugs kick in I don't notice anything but the back of my eyelids. LOL!

I've uploaded and preposted some wordart for the next couple of days just in case I sleep through the rest of the week. LOL! The ringer has been turned off on the phone and I'm going to bed now.

What a day! Just when I think I'm finally over this horrible cold I get hit with another coughing fit.

We got the green eggs and ham cooked today. The kids all loved it. Well, most of them love it. But none of them believed me when I tried to tell them that the green eggs came from green chickens. LOL!

I made another layout using Flowerscraps portion of this month's blog train and I wanted to share it with you. This is such an amazing collab this month. I got enough goodies to keep me busy for awhile!

Monday morning - again!

Guess what I accomplished this weekend? A big fat nothing! Well, I coughed and slept a lot. LOL! I did venture out to the store today to pick up ham and eggs for Dr. Seuss' birthday tomorrow. You can't have Dr. Seuss's birthday in Kindergarten without making Green Eggs and Ham!

My friend Melissa saw snow today for the first time in her life! She didn't get to enjoy it though because she was in her car driving from Georgia to Florida. I say that's what she gets for moving to Georgia in the first place! LOL!

Have you visited Flowerscraps to pick up her portion of the March blog train? Well, make sure you visit Shel Belle Scraps too! Here's another layout I made with Flowerscraps portion.

I must get some more sleep now. LOL! Enjoy your day!
