It's over...

Download word art here

My long weekend is over and I'm sad.  I also think I'm about 30 pounds heavier.  All I've done is eat, drink and sleep and I'm not sure which one I've done the most.  LOL!

I can survive the next eight school days, right?

On Saturday, I took two naps!  Sunday, I only took one , but it was awesome!  On Monday, the alarm clock will not go off because of the long weekend.

On Tuesday, the alarm will go off and I will wake up calling all of you teachers that are already on summer vacation names.  LOL!

Eight more school days.....

End of year tears.....

Download word art here

I still have 9 more days of school.  9 more days!

We went on stage Thursday morning to practice for our end of year show next Friday.  My class went first and it was the typical everything is wrong, but they're in kindergarten so their parents will love it kind of show.  LOL!

When we were finished, we took our place in the audience to watch and cheer on the other classes.  One of my girls broke down in tears.  Seriously, uncontrollable crying.  I asked her what was wrong and she said....."This is just really sad."

She was crying because kindergarten is ending.  When she explained to the other kids why she was crying some of them started crying too.

So, they're all sitting there crying while the other kids and teachers stared at us like we were crazy.  Someone asked me what was wrong with my class and the only reply I had was....

I don't know.  I lost control of them a long time ago.

I had to say that.  I had to distance.  I had to because I don't think I can handle 9 days of crying.  It's the end of the year and I only have a couple boxes of tissues left.

Have you ever...

Please, tell me that I am not the only one who puts stuff down in plain sight but still can't remember where!

Tuesday night I was hanging out with OCG and some of our friends right here in my own house.  I remember hearing my phone vibrate in my purse and checking it quickly.  I didn't the call and apparently I didn't put the phone back in my purse either.

After everyone was gone, I went to plug my phone in to charge it before going to bed and I couldn't find it.  I spent about 15 minutes looking before giving up and going to bed.  I figured I would find it in the morning when I wasn't so tired.

So, Wednesday morning I spend about 30 minutes looking for my phone before giving up an heading out to work.  I seriously had no idea what I did with my phone after checking it the night before!

I came home and spent even more time looking for that stupid phone before giving up yet again and sitting down to watch the latest episode of Hell's Kitchen that I had recorded the night before.  After that went off, I searched some more before giving up yet again.  I think I got something to eat at this point.

At this point, more than 24 hours had gone by since I last saw my phone.  Other than knowing it was somewhere in the house, I had no idea where else to look.  I had just given up and told myself I would buy a new phone when I happened to look at the box holding the bottle of cognac that one of my friends had brought over the night before.

That box was on the table and on top of that box, sitting just as pretty as you please, was my phone.  I had search all around that box, but apparently, I had never looked at it. Lol!

My phone is charging now and I am happy that I don't have to spend money on a new one.

I've been working on this.....

Download word art here

It's been a while since I've written anything just or fun.   I've felt stiffled, but now I think that's changing.

I got up early this morning to get some errands run.....dropping off the laundry at the cleaners, buying a present for a friends birthday, getting a massage because it was a long week and I deserved it, running by the post office to mail a package and hitting up the grocery store.

As I was getting out of the car at the grocery store, I noticed there was a guy sitting in the driver's seat of the truck I had parked beside.  He was just sitting there enjoying what looked like a smoothie.  I ran into the store and grabbed everything I needed and came out about 15 minutes later.

As I was walking across the parking garage I noticed that the truck that had been parked by my car was gone an another car was sitting there.  This car also had a guy sitting in the driver's seat.  He wasn't drinking a smoothie, but he was playing on the phone.

I started putting my goodies in my car when I thought.....what if I'm being followed?!  What if I'm being followed and they had to switch out cars because I saw the driver of the truck?!

Yep, I think I'm ready to get back to some creative writing!  LOL!

UGH!

I've spent most of the day napping and trying to fight off a fever.  At one point it was up to 102.2.

I can't believe my body is betraying like this on the weekend! It should know by now that fevers are supposed to be saved for the school days.  LOL!

Express Lines at the grocery store

Download word art here

I know that some of you live in areas where they have Kroger grocery  stores and I have to ask if you like them.  We don't have those stores around here.  Florida is home to Publix grocery stores.

When we were in Tennessee, we ducked into a Krogers to pick up some water and snacks for our hotel room.  It was a big beautiful store and everyone was soooooo friendly.  When we went to check out the signs at the express lines said..."about 15 items".

I laughed so hard!  You know that you are no longer in Miami when people are that laid back about their express lines.  I mean someone in front of you might have 20 items, but you can't get mad because...it's about 15!

The signs on all of our express lines say "10 items or less" and if you get into line with more than 10 items I judge you and I judge you harshly!  Seriously, if I have 11 items I wait in the normal lines because 11 is more that 10.  Trust me, I teach kindergarten, I know!

Well, on Thursday after school I made a quick stop at the grocery store.  I needed some deli meat and fresh bread to make my lunch for Friday.  Yes.....even I can make a sandwich!

I headed straight for the deli and grabbed what I needed then I took a stroll down the candy aisle where I learned that the Dove's Promises were on sale.....BOGO!!!!!  I grabbed two bags and placed them in my basket because.....chocolate and caramel.....on sale!

Then, I headed for the check out lines.  The store wasn't overly busy but all of the open lines had customers with full carts.  I walked right past them and headed for the express lines with my basket of four items.

The first express line had one lady checking out an another waiting in line behind her with a cart that was half full.  Way more than 10 items!

I kept walking toward the second and only other express line that was open.  There was a gentleman just finishing up and being handed his receipt.  Behind him was another lady with a cart that was half full!  Again, way more than 10 items!

The very worst part is that as this lady pulled her cart forward to start unloading her items, she looked right at me and my basket that only held 4 items.  I waited for her to say that I could go ahead of her, but she didn't say anything.  She just started unloading all her goodies.

I let out a very obvious sigh and stood there forming my very passive-aggressive question for the cashier.....

Ummm.....excuse me, but is there an express line open?

Before I had a chance to say anything a store manager came up from behind me.....Actually, I'm pretty sure he heard my very obvious sigh.  This guy told me I could go over to the service counter where customers aren't supposed to have more than 3 items.  I thanked him and very loudly said.....thank you, everybody has more than 10 items.  The lady in front of me just kept unloading her cart.

I headed over to the service counter where I waited behind one person.  When he was finished the guy working the counter smiled at me and asked if he could help me.  Now, I've talked to this guy before and he knows that I'm a teacher so I'm pretty sure he understood when I had a mini meltdown....

I'm sorry I have more than three items but everyone over there has more than ten and they told me I could come over here and I just want to go home take my shoes off, put on my pajamas and eat this chocolate while I wait for Orange Croc Guy to either cook or order me some dinner!

The guy laughed.....and so did a couple of other people who were standing around.

Then the guy took my basket and rang up my items.  As I was walking out with my bag of goodies I looked back at the express lines and guess what?   Those two ladies with more than 10 items were still there!

Now, I wonder, if the express line sign had said "about 10 items" if I would have been as upset......

Looking Good

Download word art here

There's a little girl in my class who does not like wearing her glasses.  In the beginning of the year, I would try to get her to wear them by telling her how cute she looked when she has them on.  That didn't impress her much!

So, awhile back, I changed tactics and started telling her how if she didn't wear them she couldn't see how cute I was.  That got lots of laughs, but it worked.....until recently....

I know that it is just a matter of time until I have to change tactics again.  So, today I tried this....

You don't have your glasses on!  You can't see how pretty I am when you aren't wearing them and my hair looks especially good today.

Without saying a word, the girl got up to get her glasses from her book bag and a kid on the other side of the room said.....

Ms. Brown, you need to stop now. You've gone too far.

It was one of those days...

Download word art here

It was rainy and cold and the perfect day for staying home in pajamas.  So, why did I have to go to work?

On Monday, my school made the local news.  Apparently, some of the big kids claimed "food poisoning" and they were actually getting sick!

So, the district office called, the health department was called, fire and rescue and even the police were called.  They were all at school checking everything out and some of them were even back on Tuesday.

It turns out, the kids purposely made themselves sick.  GROSS!

Last week they were in the lunch room doing the cinnamon challenge and a food fight.  This week it's this.  I wonder what the coming weeks will bring.

My theory on all of this is that they are acting out so much because of the fact that they have not been allowed any freedom this year.

Monday again!

Download word art here

For reasons I can't explain I've spend some time listening to country music lately.  There's a song that says.....Every week has a weekend.

I have no idea who sings it or if it's an old song or a new one, but I'm getting myself through the next 5 weeks by reminding myself that.....every week has a weekend.

It's the only way I am going to make it to the end of a never ending school year!

We've reached a new low!

My "no fun in education" principal has now decreed that there will be no making Mother's Day projects.  It takes away from "real learning".

Seriously!

Is it June yet?
