We had truck day at school and it was lots of fun! There was only one thing that I can complain about---the hot guy from the SWAT team wasn't there. LOL! Actually, no one from the SWAT team came. They were needed somewhere else. The Firetrucks also had to leave early because there was a real fire somewhere. So, I didn't even get a chance to see if there were any hot firefighters. Oh well, there's always next year. LOL!

There were a couple of things that were said today that I wanted to share with you.

One of the police officers with the dive team finished showing us all his equipment and talking about how he does his job. Before he said good-bye to the kids he wanted them to know that even though they were going to see and talk to lots of people today teachers were important too. So, here's how that conversation went.....

Nice Police Officer: There's one job that's the most important of all. Do you know what that job is?

Student #1: Doctor

Nice Police Officer: No, there's a job that's more important than that.

Student #2: Police Officer

Nice Police Officer: I'm thinking about someone that is even more important than a police officer.

Student #3: Fighterfighter

Nice Police Officer: No, There's a job that's even more important than being a firefighter.

Student #4: Monster Truck Driver

At this point the nice police officer just told them the answer he was looking for. LOL!


The motorcycle police officer arrived late, so he rode up parked his bike and went to check in. When the nice police officer saw some of my kids looking at the motorcycle, he told them he could turn the lights and siren on for them. Here's that conversation...

Student #1: Are you going to ride it?

Nice Police Officer: Oh no, I can't ride the motorcycle because the big guy will get mad at me.

Student #1 (again) Is he stronger than you?

Nice police officer is busy pushing buttons on the motorcycle and doesn't hear student #1's question. When he doesn't answer the question Student #2 says....

I'll take that as a yes!

At this point, I decided I needed to move away from the nice police officer and give him a break. LOL!

We went to see the guy who brought the cement truck. He was nice, funny and I really thought he kept the kids attention. After he talked about and showed us his truck for ten minutes he asked if anyone had any questions....

Student #1: What does this truck do?

I laughed and welcomed the nice cement truck driver to my world. LOL!

Now, I'm going to bed because the fun days are always the most exhausting!

You know those days, when you ask yourself why? Why did I get up today? Why is this happening? Why am I here? Why do I bother? Why me? Why, why, why?!?! Well, lately I've been asking myself why~~~A LOT! Today, I actually got an answer.

I have a very challenging class this year. The kind of class that has me counting down the days until summer vacation. The kind of class that has me purposely scheduling my doctor appointments in the middle of the day so that I have to take the whole day off. The kind of class that has drastically increased my use of Tylenol and tequila. The kind of class that has me trying to remember why it was that I ever wanted to be a teacher.

This afternoon I was walking from my class to the main office, which is about a two block walk, when a little girl I had in my class a few years ago fell into step beside me. Well, she was one of those students that always had me asking the very same why questions. I had to make myself take a deep breath and listen as she started talking because I really just wanted her to go away.

This little girl didn't ask me a why question. She asked a what question~"Do you know what I wrote in my journal today?" I half heartily smiled at her and pretended to be interested as I returned her question with a simple mumbled one word answer/question "what?"

Her whole face lit up with a smile as she said, "I wrote about you and how much fun we had in your class. I still remember how we used to make things on Friday."

She kept talking and told me about some of the different things we did and made. Then this little girl who had me doing a happy dance every time she stayed home from school said, "It was my best year."

She made me remember why.

27 more days of school until summer vacation! I don't think I've ever looked forward to vacation as much as I am this year.

We're having truck day on Friday and that's always fun. It's the day that local business' bring out their trucks for the kids to see. They tell us all about the truck and how it works. A couple of years ago they brought out the Limo that the President rides in when he's in Miami. Yes, I touched it! LOL!

I wanted to show you this super cute layout by Marlyn. I just love how she has shown off the pictures! That chef hat is too cute!

Here's a funny story for you!

There are lots and lots of lizards that like to call my school home. When we go to the playground the lizards usually scurry away, but last week there was one lizard that refused to move. It was like he was taking a stand and claiming his territory. LOL!

Well, you know what Kindergartners are like~~~ they tormented that poor lizard. No matter how many times I told them to leave the poor guy alone, they just couldn't do it. They would move toward him then run screaming when he tried to run away.

On Friday, as soon as we got to the playground, the kids started screaming and pointing out the poor lizard again. I had to use my mean "teacher voice" and tell them to stay away from that lizard or we would all go back inside. Well, this time they decided to listen to me~ kind of! LOL!

I watched while the kids made a kind of semi-circle around it and then started yelling at the poor little guy. I couldn't stop laughing when I heard what they were yelling---"You don't go to this school. Now, go home so we can play!"

LOL! If only I had taken a camera outside with me!
