It took lots of fast talking, but I finally convinced Ryan that I wasn’t from any sort of government office or police bureau and he quit pointing the gun at me. He still stood
there staring at me while barely making more than grunting sounds as I quickly and embarrassingly explained what I was doing there.

“So, you’re telling me that we dated?”

“We did.” I forced myself to smile as I answered.

He looked me over from head to toe a few times before completely lowering the gun asking, “Did you have my kid?”

“What? NO, I didn’t….I mean we didn’t…no, just…no…” I stopped myself from saying too much
because of the fear of having him point his gun at me again.

“Well, what brings you out here then?” Ryan stared at me like he still wasn’t sure I was who I was saying I was.

“Umm, well…” I looked around at the nothing that surrounded us. “Would you believe that I was just in the neighborhood?” I tried to smile at my own joke, but wasn’t successful.

Ryan relaxed as he took a step back and swung the rifle over his shoulder, “Well, I guess you better get inside then.”

Scared, I took a step back toward my rental and put my hands up to wave off the idea of going inside. “Oh no, that’s OK. I just wanted to see you and say hey. And, well, now I’ve seen you, so…you know…hey.”

I forced myself to smile, but Ryan’s expression remained skeptical. “I better get back on the road now. It was nice seeing you. Take care.”

I kept my eyes on Ryan and his rifle as I took small backward steps toward my car. Ryan took a step forward and I froze as he shifted the gun.

“I guess, you didn’t hear me. I said you better get inside. I’m expecting company and it won’t do for them to see you standing out here.”

Once again, I looked around at the nothingness that surrounded us and wondered where this “company” was coming from. I looked back at Ryan and he stepped aside and used his rifle to motion toward the door of the gas station. Every cell in my body was screaming for me to run, but my feet walked toward Ryan and into the gas station.

I really need a vacation!

I got to school yesterday to find that there was no air conditioning. The morning was miserable, but it did get fixed for the afternoon.

I got home and took a nice long shower. I was super sleepy and just wanted to go to bed, but there was a Heat game---a really big super important Heat game on TV and I needed to blog about the new kit from Scraps of Ellay so I tried staying awake. I really, really tried!

I decided to go ahead an prepost about the kit and skip the game so I was in bed by 8:30. I slept so good!!!!

Well, I slept well right up until the fire alarm went off at around 4AM. It's loud and annoying and I just want to slap the person who belongs to the voice that says, "Please evacuate the building" over and over and over again.

I didn't evacuate. I waited for them to finally get it turned off and tried to go back to sleep.

No more sleep for me. UGH!

I finally decided to just get up and actually cook breakfast instead of having my usual bowl of cereal. Afterall, I did such a great job of cooking breakfast the last time that I had to revisit my glory days. lol!

No more glory days for me. UGH!

This time the bacon was mostly burned and at one point the fire alarm started up with this super crazy and very loud noise. It wasn't the typical "Please evacuate the building", but it was pretty bad.

So, here I am at four-thirty in the morning, wearing my pajamas, holding a pan of mostly burned bacon and freaking out because I think I am now the cause of setting off the fire alarm in a building with close to 2,000 units.

Security never came knocking on the door, so whatever had caused the alarm to go off earlier must have been to blame.

At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I got to school REALLY early cause what else are you going to do when you get up as early as I did?

It was a long day and my class seriously has summer-itis so they weren't co-operative at all.

After school, I met with the music teacher to go over some scrapbook pages I'm putting together for his daughter's high school graduation. We talked for a long time! It was almost 4:00 when I left school.

As I was walking to the car, I realized that my cell phone was still inside the building on my desk. I decided I could do without it and kept walking. lol!

Hopefully, it's still there when I get there in the morning.

Needless to say, I'm super tired again tonight! I'm heading to bed now. Hopefully, the fire alarm will stay quiet tonight.

I've had such a great day of doing nothing! It was good practice for summer vacation. lol!
