An interesting twist!

So, my principal came into my building this morning and was just kind of standing there so I pointed out to him that I was expecting to see him dressed in  green fur today.

Get it-----green fur-----cause he's The Grinch.

Don't feel bad, it took him a second to get it too.  Then he handed me a bag and said that he was at Target yesterday and bought me some crayons.

Sure enough, inside the bag were 9 boxes of crayons to help with replace all the crayons my class had stolen.

I laughed and said I knew the crayons weren't really for me and he was just trying to make me feel guilty for calling him The Grinch.  He assured me that he had actually bought them for me.

Well played, Universe, well played....

The universe has sided with The Grinch!

OK, you know that old saying about how a positive attitude being everything?  Well, I decided to give it a try since it's so easy to have a bad attitude when you're stressed out.

So, Wednesday morning after the alarm went off but before I got out of bed, I said out loud, "OK, universe, starting today I am going to have nothing but great days.  The best days ever!"

I headed to school confident that the universe would take care of me.  Boy, was I disappointed!  Wednesday wasn't a great day but it wasn't a bad day either.  At least, not until there was poop on my classroom floor.

Yeah, you read that right. POOP  on my floor!

One of the kids had an accident and didn't say anything. Not even when it started falling out of his shorts onto the floor.

The universe has an evil sense of humor!

On Thursday, I got out of bed smiled and tried again.  Unlike Wednesday, this was going to be the best day ever.  And it was going pretty good, until I got to school and locked myself out of my classroom twice before 8 o'clock.

That's right.....locked out two times before 8 AM and I don't even have to be there until 8:10.

Now, you're probably thinking the same thing I was thinking.....

The universe was trying to tell me to get out of there!  If I wanted to have a great day I needed to be at the mall or the beach or back home in my bed.

NO, that' not what the universe was saying at all.  The universe wasn't trying to send me a message at all.  It was laughing at me!

I know it was laughing at me because while I was locked out of my classroom my car keys were locked in the room.  Even though I wanted to leave.....I wasn't going anywhere.

The universe has an evil, evil sense of humor!

If you still don't believe that the universe is laughing at me, remind me to tell you the story of my non-expired, expired credit card.

Dealing with the stress...

One of you commented that I should go to "a happy place" since  the stress level this week is off the charts.  So, here are more pictures from our Tennessee vacation.  These were actually taken on the morning of my birthday and the rime ice was beyond beautiful!

Wish me luck

OK in eight short hours the last week of school before Christmas starts.  This week is usually fun but exhausting.  Now, I'm afraid that it will simply be exhausting.

I'll be trying to sneak in some fun when The Grinch isn't looking.

Is it Christmas yet?

So, we made it through another  week at school and the only thing even close to exciting happened Thursday when I had my class on the playground.  After we had been out there awhile, I noticed that there was a car in the parking lot with the driver side door open.  No one else was in site and no one had come or gone while e had been out there.

I slowly walked through the gate and toward the car.  Some of the kids noticed that I was on the other side of the fence and started calling out, "Ms. Brown is leaving!"  I assured them that I wasn't leaving and told them to back away from the fence.  Then I once again turned my attention to the car with the open door.

As I walked around the front of the car I said a silent prayer, "Lord, please don't let there be a body on the ground!"

Luckily, there was no body!  I called the office and after some time we learned that the car belonged to one of the volunteers that helps in a pre-k class.  She had simply gotten out of the car and forgotten to close her door.  Even the volunteers are stressed out!

In the past two weeks I've had two different dreams about being kidnapped.  After the first one, I woke up disappointed that I hadn't actually been kidnapped and had to go to work.  The second dream scared me!  I woke up with a pounding heart and couldn't get back to sleep.  The next day was an especially long one!

We've still got another week before vacation starts and I'm hoping there won't be any more bad dreams.  I spent some time today going through more of my Tennessee photos trying to get back the calm feeling that vacation always brings...
