I have a ghost!

Download word art here

OK. ok, I know that I've told you I have a ghost before.  (I still haven't figured out that whole toilet flushing incident!)  This time I think my ghost is for real!  Of course, I was pretty sure the last one was real.....it was everyone around me that doubted.

Before I go further into my story, I need to tell you another one of my secrets.  I recently moved to a bigger better condo.  I love it!  I have so much more space and in, you know, thirty short years it will be all mine.  LOL!  I'm on the 6th floor in a gated community with my own private wrap around balcony and a great view!

I came home one day last week and the door in my bedroom that leads out to the balcony was open.  At the time, I didn't think too much about it.  It had rained pretty hard earlier in the day and I figured that I had just left the door unlocked and the wind from the storm had caused it to open.  My front door was locked when I got home and there was no way anyone had scaled their way up to the sixth floor.

However, I did do a quick walk through and checked all the rooms and closets.

Last night, I was in bed with all the lights out reading on the Ipad when the overhead lights suddenly came on.  The overhead lights!!!  Not the lamp by the bed!!  The overhead lights that I couldn't have reached because the switch is on the other side of the room.

Seriously, it's on the other side of the room.  I took this photo of the foot of my bed so that you could see how far it is from the light switch by the bedroom door.

Oh crap, ignore my shoes in the floor!  lol!

It's a dimmer switch so the lights didn't come all the way on, but the room was lit enough to see everything.  There was no one in the room with me.....no one that I could see, anyway.  There was no storm so there was no loud noise or shaking of the building.  Absolutely nothing had happened other than the lights coming on!

I was completely freaked out!  I just sat there very quietly for a moment and waited to see if anything else was going to happen.  When nothing happened I started talking...

Me:  Is there anyone in my house?

.....silence.....

Me: Hello, who turned my lights on?

.....silence.....

Me: Are you ok?

THE LIGHTS WENT OUT!!!!!

Me:  Does that mean you're not ok?

.....silence.....

I sat there for several minutes before putting the Ipad down, pulling up the covers and falling asleep as I repeated, "Please be a nice ghostPlease be a nice ghost."  over and over.

So, who wants to have a sleep over at my house?  lol!

  1. We've had a few things happen in our house, too. Ours seems friendly :) Thank you for the word art.

  2. Tell the Ghost that it's time to go, let them know it's ok for them to move on. You're there now to take care of the condo.

  4. Nawww, you ask the ghost if they are aware that they are dead. Ask them to do something specific (your idea) to signal yes or no. Depending upon the answer, your next statement would be either - "Well you are, and there is so much waiting for you on the other side -(make it sound desirable to go there.) All you need to do is go to the light." If they answer that they are aware that they are deceased, then I would strongly suggest asking additional questions as to why they are hanging around. IE: Do you have unfinished business; someone you're waiting for, that kinda thing. Then depending upon how you feel about the out come, suggest to them that you are there now to take care of the condo, and you don't mind them hanging around, but that you will not tolerate them frightening you. Give them boundaries. That's what I did when I had a friendly presence in my first home. Odds are that this one is friendly too, since they've done nothing malicious. Good luck.

  5. I have two. One is one of my old cats and the other is my deceased husband.
The cat ghost jumps up on the bed at nite and walks towards my shoulders using that 'put one foot carefully in front of the other" walk that cats have. I feel it hit the foot of the bed when it jumps.

My husband says just my name and also turns on the small tv on his side of the bed. As my sister in law said, "If you have to have a ghost, one you love is a good one to have."

  8. A few years ago a friend of mine bought a bungalow and renovated it. Three times in a month she got back home to find that the glass in the kitchen door was broken, the glass was on the outside as if broken from inside, it made no sense as the place had been empty all day. A few days later she was in the kitchen when she suddenly felt very cold, and saw a shadow of an elderly woman with her arm stretched forward as if reaching for something, prior to renovations that corner had been a pantry with shelves, the shadow turned and walked out of the kitchen door into the hallway. My friend immediately sat down at the kitchen table and started to talk to the woman, she told her that she was welcome to come any time she wanted, but the bungalow was her home now and she'd appreciate it if when she was there she didn't damage anything. She and her husband still feel the cold in that one corner of the kitchen occasionally; her husband is just grateful there's no more damage, it was getting expensive. Try talking to your ghost calmly and let it know that you don't mind it being there but you'd be grateful if it stopped the disturbing behaviour. Hey, it's worth a try. Good luck!
